HiMama is a Certified B Corp!

HiMama is a social purpose business and a certified B Corporation that connects families with the early childhood professionals who serve them. These relationships improve developmental outcomes for children aged zero to five.

We are committed to the professional development of early childhood educators by providing high-quality free resources about early education through Early Education Nation, The Preschool Podcast, our blog and the Early Childhood Educator of the Year Award whose volunteer jury panel includes the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) CEO Rhian Allvin, ZERO TO THREE Chief Policy Officer Myra Jones-Taylor, and Canadian MPP Peter Tabuns, among others.

HiMama is a Certified B Corporation

HiMama became a Certified B Corporation in March 2018. B Corps are a new type of company that uses the power of business to solve social and environmental problems. Similar to fair-trade or organic certification, B Corp certification is awarded only after a rigourous third-party assessment by the non-profit B Lab that evaluates a company’s demonstration of social good, environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.

We’ve evaluated how our practices impact our employees, the early childhood education community, the environment, and our customers. Early childhood professionals are systemically underpaid and undervalued. 16% of Canadian preschool teachers using HiMama are under the low-income threshold defined by Statistics Canada. The median annual salary for early childhood educators in Canada is $35,346; lower than dog walkers. 43% of American preschool teachers using HiMama are under the low income threshold defined by the US Department of Education. The average salary defined by payscale.com for American preschool teachers is $12.36/hr.
