Cori Berg is an Early Childhood Education specialist who has served the field as a teacher, director, advocate, and trainer for over 25 years. She is most widely known for her work on resilience in supporting teams. She can be found at ECE from the Heart on FB where she has support resources for schools in the pandemic.
🧪 Key Learning Outcomes
- Listen to support – Taking care of each other starts with listening! Support looks different for everyone. The pandemic has shown us that we have to re-learn how to give and take with each other.
- Working with others is just as important as working on you – When looking at professional development, think 50% external (how can you improve your team), 50% internal (how can you improve yourself). With this mindset, you’ll see consistent growth across the board.
- Accept what you can’t change, adapt your response – Whatever that “thing” is that is eating at you, part of working through it is accepting what you cannot change AND pivoting around that. Don’t beat yourself up for being stressed, but do take a breath and try a different approach!
- Get to the root of the problem by observing and being objective – Find ways to ask “whats going on” by bringing up behaviors that you have observed. We don’t know what is going on in people’s lives until we ask. If that doesn’t work, you will need to go back to the job description.
